I am still meditating on 2 Kings 4:1-7!
Tonight, the Lord dropped in my heart that the pot of oil was already designated in Heaven to be the source of the widow woman’s financial liberation. She just didn’t know it at the time. She saw the oil as just that, a single pot of oil which meant nothing against the landscape of her troubled life. She didn’t see it as anything other than what it was – one lone pot of oil.
How often do we assess our circumstances through the lens of what they are, as if that is what they must remain? Yet, with God, all things are possible.
We often fail to realize that what we see and what God will use are one and the same. The difference is when God speaks and transforms that “lone pot of oil” to do more/ be more/ provide more and thereby accomplishing His purpose.
The widow woman saw God use that insignificant pot of oil to resolve the greatest need she had — not only solving the problem but, more importantly, introducing her to a new level of living.
Isn’t that what happened with Gideon? He was just trying to thresh wheat near a wine press in hopes of keeping the Midianites from stealing it. He wasn’t thinking about God using him, like that one pot of oil, to bring about life-altering change not only in himself but also in the Israelites. It was much bigger than he dreamed. He was working where he was, doing what he could, with what little he had – without a hint that God was about to bring the reality of Heaven into the Earth through his hands.
The widow woman had no idea that God would use her lone pot of oil to introduce her to the reality of Heaven by transforming it to produce results that once seemed inconceivable. It was already ordained that her life would be transformed, even as she said, “I have nothing save a pot of oil.”
God operates from Heaven’s reality, not this Earth’s. He is trying to get us to live in the reality that with Him, nothing is impossible. His will is already done in Heaven, and we will see it become the same reality on Earth.
Lord, help me to rest in the reality of Heaven — and that reality is, “With God nothing shall be impossible.” So, although I may not see it in the moment, that doesn’t mean my “pot of oil” can’t be transformed to do more!

4 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. 11 And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite; and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the wine press to hide it from the Midianites.12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him and said unto him, “The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.”13 And Gideon said unto him, “Oh my lord, if the Lordbe with us, why then has all this befallen us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord hath forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”14 And the Lord looked upon him, and said, “Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have not I sent thee?”15 And he said unto Him, “Oh my Lord, with what shall I save Israel?
