Jacob and company finally made it to Goshen in Egypt. It is in Goshen, where he is reunited with Joseph. Genesis 46:29 states that Joseph presented himself to Jacob, and he fell on his neck and wept on his neck for a good while. Oh, the joy.

That visual brought back to my mind Jacob and his twin brother Esau’s beautiful tearful reunion after 20 years. God had performed a marvelous work in each man to get them to that incredible moment. There Jacob was once again, experiencing a moment he never thought would occur. He and Joseph openly shed tears of joy. That moment occurred because of God’s purpose and mighty hand.

No one knew what God had in store for them – and He allowed them to remain clueless for a very long time. Yet, with each day of frustration, agony, uncertainty, and resigning themselves to make the best of a bad situation, God was steadily leading them to a new norm.

I thank the Lord for the account of Jacob/Joseph because it boasts of God’s power to take seemingly unrelated situations/people/places, tie them together, and produce a faith-building experience. Everything going on in our lives has a point in God’s economy. No, He won’t allow you to see the purposes behind the countless nooks and crannies while you are going through. But through His rich Word, such as the account of Jacob and Joseph’s reunion, we’re reminded He is orchestrating every inch/aspect of our lives. This includes the good, bad, ugly, ordinary, and extraordinary days/years/seasons.

Your determination to run your life to obtain your desired outcome will fail miserably. It’s not that you need a better plan, or work smarter instead of harder. You can’t combat the “God-Factor.” You can take measures into your own hands, but, like Joseph filling the butler’s ear with a speech that he forgot to tell Pharoah about for two years, your plan won’t work. Why? It doesn’t take into account what God has in store for you.

He has a purpose for everything and everyone in your life. And, in His time and way, you will get your turn of standing in awe of what the Lord was doing in your life.

14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14 KJV)

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV)
