A Treasured Gift

The holidays are here, and with them come get-togethers with friends and family, gifts, Christmas performances, festive parades, and possibly even a surprise marriage proposal to round out the year.   But there is a flip side to all of that, as anyone who has lived long enough has experienced.  Heartache, tears, and grief blanket and silence the once welcome holiday season.  The sadness of an empty seat at the dinner table, family traditions fractured by a dissolved marriage, and broken promises pile up like the trash left behind from opened gifts breaking the heart.

Thankfully, for those extremes and everything in between, God has given gifts: – people willingly standing alongside those experiencing the thrilling joys of happiness and those reeling under the strangling pain of loss.  Being there is a gift!   So, whether you are celebrating with those embracing a season of rejoicing or making the somber trek down dark, difficult paths of loss – you are giving a treasured gift!

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Romans 12:15 (KJV)

In the Master’s Service, Pastor Michele D Robertson

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 KJV)
