I originally wrote and posted this devotional on Thursday, April 28, 2016. I was reminded of it today and it continues to bless me. May it bless you as well.
Details. I’m so grateful the Lord has purpose for those little details in life. Everything has purpose. If it’s in your life then God has purpose for it. It blesses me to know God sees and uses details. Nothing is without a purpose with God. It may seem soooo small to you and I, but every moment is part of God’s plan being fulfilled. That casual look to the left and you saw something. At the time it occurred, it seemed irrelevant to your assignment, but God knows how that moment will intersect with His divine time. Sometimes we’re so caught up in the major events of life that we miss those seemingly minute details until the Lord reveals the purpose behind that detail.
I was recently reminded of what the Lord used to expose something to me several years ago during a very difficult time in my life. It was mid-morning and I was busy working at my desk when I suddenly felt incredibly thirsty. It was so intense I decided I couldn’t wait until lunch time, so I started fishing through my purse for some change. Once I thought I had enough change in my hand, I heard the Lord say to me, “What is in your hand?” I remember thinking this is dumb, “Uh, change.” But the Lord pressed me and I heard, “No, look at what is in your hand.” This time, I took the moment seriously and looked at the change in my hand. I responded, “I see change. Quarters, dimes, nickels.” And that is when He brought understanding as to why He wanted me to look at the change. He reminded me that $1.00 is still a dollar even if it’s 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels or 100 pennies. There is no true change just a different version of the same thing, $1.00.
My thirstiness left as I called a friend to share what the Lord shared with me. It was powerfully significant because I’d been dealing with a situation where I was being told to accept the so-called change in behavior, when in fact, there was none. What was being presented to me as change was really just a different version of the same thing. There wasn’t an ounce of true change but a determination to deceive by presenting the same behavior in a different manner. When God causes change, it’s not a rehash of the same old thing. It’s not 4 quarters instead of a dollar bill! There’s nothing old about it – there is a shift that cannot be denied.
Stop accepting what the enemy is trying to hand you as real change. No child, its’ just as it was before!
I am thankful the Lord caused me to see beyond the “change in my hand.” Who would have thought that the Lord would use something sooo small. He is God and He has all power to bring revelation through any means. I bristle now at my arrogance in talking back to the Lord like He didn’t know what He was saying. I had no idea at the time that what He was revealing to me would bring such freedom to my heart.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Matthew 7:15 (KJV)
12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Corinthians 11:12-15 (KJV)

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV)
