Continue on with Jesus!

Yes, we’ve walked through the story of Jairus, but my heart is still resting on how Jairus faced a massive dilemma. He was told not to bother Jesus any longer because the situation was no conducive for improvement. So, forget about Jesus and accept the loss.

Jairus had to make a choice as to whom to believe and respond to. He could believe the person who brought the horrible news about his daughter or believe the words Jesus just spoke to him.

We all will have moments like this where we’re forced to choose to take the word of a person who saw/heard or continue on with Jesus despite what we’ve been told. There will always be someone admonishing you not to pursue Jesus any longer as there’s nothing He can do.

But here’s the thing – no one is authorized to speak for Jesus or you! Yes, people can take it upon themselves to tell you what they feel you should do about your situation. Yes, they can throw out negative words to discourage you from pursuing Jesus, but they can’t force you to stop seeking the Lord’s help. Their word won’t turn Jesus around either. Call it what it is – a ploy to stop you from looking to Jesus!

Continue on with Jesus! Don’t let what others say regarding your situation deter you from holding onto Jesus!

Jesus’ words to Jairus infused him with the strength to continue despite the commotion and turmoil. Jesus wasn’t dragging His feet but was right there with Jairus and the people who proclaimed, “Don’t bother Jesus any longer,” chalking it up to a waste of time.

People can talk all day long, but what matters is whose words you choose to line up with. If Jesus spoke to you, move forward with Him and what He said. Continue on with Jesus!

41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying.

49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done. Luke 8:41-42, 49-56 (KJV)

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV)
