Mission Accomplished. Those words rang in my heart as I started a lengthy project at work. It struck me as funny at first because I am in the infancy stage of this endeavor. But it also made me smile as I was instantly reminded that the purpose of starting was to complete it – and then the words would be accurate.
My heart fell on Jesus as He hung on the cross and said, “It is finished.” Mission accomplished!! Paul also came to mind when he said, “I finished my course.” Mission accomplished.
We should all live our lives with the words “mission accomplished” playing in the background of our minds. Mission accomplished – there’s a point to doing, living, walking, talking, preaching, praying, reading, singing, and repeating day in and out. We started this journey in Jesus with an excited hope that one day we’ll hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord.” Then, trials come, and plodding through becomes more difficult. The heavyweight of wanting to drop out grows. Giving up screams at you. What’s the point? Just forget it!
Still, we must keep showing up, although tired, worn, weary, and longing for the end. Quitting isn’t the end; it’s just where you can call it over. We start a thing, and sometimes, for a myriad of reasons, we abandon the project, but God does none of that. He completes everything He started. Nothing is left undone. And He remains able to strengthen us to fulfill our purposes in life. So, continue your race. The Lord sends a little encouragement here and there. A song raises a glimmer of hope that, just maybe, you can take one more step. The Lord strengthens you; you rise again and walk through another 24 hours. Mission Accomplished.
One day, one lesson, one moment at a time, your goal, my goal is to finish our course. Today, I just want to encourage you to keep going and in doing so, you will see the end, and you will be able to say, “Mission accomplished!”
[21] His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matt 25:21 KJV

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
