What Will you do…

The phrase “What will you do with what the Lord said” hit my heart while winding my way through a work project. Earlier in the week, I’d prayed about a situation when the Lord answered me through a portion of a song. It blessed my heart. I understood what the Lord was saying, and I’m choosing to wrap myself in His response. Since then, when questions arise, I repeat to myself what the Lord said to me while rebuking the enemy’s attempt to hijack the Lord’s answer to me with “what ifs” and “how can” or “when will”. I refuse to allow the enemy’s voice to overshadow God’s answer for me!

The enemy will always attempt to poke, prod, and pull you away from the precious promises and directions from the Lord. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. However, our job is to stay immersed in the rich Word of God, trust Him, don’t lean on our own understanding, and follow Him regardless of where He leads!

Every day, we decide what to do with the word the Lord has delivered to us. Every day, we choose to stand on His Word or flounder through the murky, dank waters of doubt and frustration. My stance today is a far cry from seasons ago when I spent lengthy episodes stuck in the quicksand of fear the devil shelled out. Sadly, at many turns, my faithlessness was on full display. But the Lord extended mercy and heaping doses of being longsuffering as I painfully learned that He always knows what is best for me and His ways are right.

Now, I continually choose to rest wholeheartedly and without reservation on the words He has imprinted on my heart. He didn’t lie, He’s not confused, and will do exactly what He said. In His time and in His way. I know this. And so, with everything swirling around me, I am assured, God has not lost His way or mine, He’s not “winging it” as life hits, He’s not out of touch or just a little tired from dealing with so much. He has it all under control! And that brings me comfort, even though I have absolutely no clue as to how He will work. I don’t need to know. It’s not my job to know. It is my job to trust Him!

What will you do with what the Lord said to you?

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 (KJV)

14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14 KJV)

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV)
