When Jesus Puts You at the Table!

I’ve been marinating in St. John 12:1-2 which reads: 1. Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

The clause I’ve been meditating on is the last part of verse 2 – but Lazarus was one of them who sat at the table with him. As often as I’ve read this passage, I don’t recall being moved by that verse. But in recent weeks, I’ve been blessed to be ministered by it while ministering on it. Lazarus had truly gone through a miraculous transformation. With all that happened to him, it was a no-brainer that he wouldn’t be a guest at anyone’s dinner table again. But God had other plans for him. Everyone knew how Lazarus got to that dinner table at the home of Simon the (former) Leper’s home! It was nothing but the miraculous power of God!!

I said it before, and I will repeat it again tonight. You don’t know where God is going to place you.  Circumstances may scream that there is nothing to look forward to and that the future won’t include you. But if God says you will survive, you will survive and end up in places that come about because of God’s power! And no one can prevent God from delivering you and placing you at the table!

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV)
